Sunflower is an annual flowering plant. Sunflower plants grow up to 3 m (9.8 ft) tall, with flowers up to 30 cm (12 in) in diameter. The flower looks a bit like the sun and is so named because it faces the sun.

Its seeds are used as poultry feed and as a source of oil. Sowing method and seed rate:  Sunflower seeds are sown in rows. Row to row distance is 50 cm and plant to plant distance is 25 cm. Sowing in this way requires 8-10 kg of seeds per hectare (247 cents). Bari Suryamukhi-2 requires 12-15 kg of seed per hectare.

Fertilizer management: For good yield, the following fertilizers should be used in sunflower.

Method of Fertilizer Application: Half of urea and all other fertilizers should be sprinkled on the land and mixed with the soil at the time of final cultivation. The remaining half of the urea should be divided into 2, the first 20-25 days after seedling emergence and the second after 40-45 days (before flowering).
