To the Honorable President of the discussion on "Significance of Great Victory Day " today and to all the guests sitting on the stage, my sincere salam as-salamu alaikum and best wishes and congratulations on "Great Victory Day". 

Sudhi, today 16th December, is an unforgettable and glorious day in Bengali national life. On this day in 1971, the great victory achieved in the history of Bangladesh will remain forever. It will continue to inspire our lives for ages. 

It goes without saying that the importance of the subject in our national life is immense. I feel proud to speak on such a topic.  

I sincerely thank the organizers of the event today for giving me this rare opportunity. 

Dear friends, you are surely aware that the bloody struggle that started at Kalra on the night of March 25, 1971, ended gloriously on December 16, 1971, when the forces assembled at the Dhaka Race Course Ground led by the defeated Pakistani General Niazi surrendered to the Bengalis on that day. We may be small as a country, but we are not small as a nation. 

Dear friends, today 16th December is our great victory day. This day is the most glorious and holiest day in the national life of this country. The first people who come to mind in this glorious moment of Victory Day are the many patriotic martyred freedom fighters of this country, who shed their blood and won the victory on this day. Today, on this auspicious day, first of all, we salute the martyrs of the freedom of this country, and we remember our national leaders who led the freedom movement to the final victory. 

On this day in 1971, the people of Bengal found their way out of the misery of 24 years of Pakistani colonial rule. 

Today Bangladesh is an independent country on the world map, we are citizens of this independent country. The significance of Victory Day in the root of national progress and consciousness is immense. 

Sudhi, the great glory of Bangladesh was created in exchange for the blood of 80 lakh martyrs, associated with this day has made it a source of unlimited inspiration for national life. This victory day is a sign of our pride. 

The Bengali nation has been able to establish itself as a heroic nation on the basis of victory on this day. This day marks the beginning of Bengali victory as an independent nation. 

We must not forget that this victory was made possible due to the desire and sacrifice of the entire country. The struggle does not end when independence is achieved. Then comes the struggle to protect the freedom of the victorious nation. This struggle requires more sacrifice and energy. 

Dear friends, the dream that the countrymen once saw with the word "victory" has not been realized even today. You have noticed recently. Mutual conflicts, extreme violence, political extremism, social degradation, organized protests of terror militancy and conflict have become the symptoms of our national life. All these evil forces have brought chaos and disorder to the country. 

Bloody conflict, safe terror.

Naturally, the question arises, did we dream of this independent country? This is the motto of our history and civilization. 

In this way, the country's independence-sovereignty will be protected? 

After 50 years of independence, many people in the country are still uneducated and poor. The safety of people's lives is being disturbed. Trapped in the web of unemployment, countless youths are choosing terrorism and drug addiction. 

In short, we have not yet made our freedom meaningful. We have achieved victory, we have got independent country. But the people of this country have yet to be freed because they could not implement its significance properly! 

Let us build the country by fulfilling all our responsibilities properly. Because we each person is responsible to the society. We also have the responsibility and duty to pay the debt. This freedom should be made worthwhile by giving food to the poor and education to the illiterate. 

So, forgetting all the differences, I vowed to build the country by eliminating conflicts. All the conscientious sections of the society should work together on the question of the country and the interests of the country, unity is desirable here, not division.
